In order for Holy Rosary Parish to be fully compliant with the Diocesan Safe Environment program, every parish staff member and volunteer age 18 and over must be fully compliant. To be compliant, you must be registered in the diopitt.org Safe Environment Database, and must have the following on file: Code of Pastoral Conduct (signed booklet) Children's Protective Services Law (signed booklet) Protecting God's Children (training session)
These are required to be done only once. If we have a copy on file for you, they don't need to be done again.  In addition, the State of Pennsylvania also requires the following clearances, which must be renewed every five years: Criminal Record Check Child Abuse Clearance FBI Fingerprinting (or signed waiver form) Mandated Reporter Training (only required for those who work/volunteer directly with children) Our parish will be audited in September by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Any non-compliant employees and volunteers will count against the parish audit score and are subject to termination or barred from further service to the church.
A class for Protecting God’s Children will be held at Holy Rosary starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 and a class for Mandated Reporter Training will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 at Holy Rosary.   Our Safe Environment Coordinator, Cindi Fuselier, will be speaking before all Masses the weekend of July 29-30 to further explain the requirements, audit, and steps needed for compliance.  Cindi and others will also be available after all Masses that weekend to assist with getting registered in the  database, provide any assistance needed, and answer any questions you may have.
  • Youth seek parishioners to recite rosary on Aug. 13
This year marks the centennial anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal. The Blessed Mother appeared once each month from May 13 until Oct. 13, 1917.This year marks the centennial anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal. The  Blessed Mother appeared once each month from May 13 until Oct. 13, 1917.   The Youth Group is planning something special in her honor. They would like to organize 100 people to recite the rosary.  Because Mary appeared on the 13th of the month, they want the rosary to be said on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. You can pray the rosary wherever you are at that time. There will be a   sign-up sheet in the vestibule for 100 faithful volunteers. In addition, the intention for the 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 13 Mass will be for Peace for the World. Mary told the shepherd children  to “continue praying the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.”

  • Youth Group to collect school supplies
In August, the Youth Group will begin its Annual School Supplies Collection. The group received many favorable compliments from the schools’ guidance counselors about this activity. For the month of August, there will be a box in the vestibule of the church. The Youth Group is seeking any NEW school supplies. Supplies can include backpacks for all ages, rulers,    pencils, color pencils, crayons, markers, notebooks,  binders, paper, pens, pencil cases/boxes, glue sticks, construction paper and calculators—anything school-related. A request was made for some insulated lunch bags or boxes for the elementary level. The Youth Group’s goal is to send 6 backpacks with supplies to the High School, Middle School, NSIS, CIS and South Central schools. Since the NEW Muse school is bigger, their request is also bigger. Our goal is to send 12 backpacks. That will be 42 backpacks total—21 for a boy/teen and 21 backpacks for a girl/teen.   If you prefer to make a monetary donation, mark an  envelope with "Youth Group School Supplies."  For  questions, contact Sue and Andy Harouse at 724-745-5892.
